Super Sandpit

Parents and guardians can relax with a tea or coffee while their children explore inside an enclosed and safe sandpit, managed all weekend by ECKA. The Super Sandpit is made possible by a donation from Ballarat Sand and Soil, SHAE Enterprises and ECKA.

Parent Place

Located next to the Super Sandpit, Parent Place provides a safe, welcoming and child-friendly space with change and feeding facilities.

Run by the City of Ballarat Family and Children’s services staff, Parent Place is also supported by a passionate team of volunteers.

Come along and join the City of Ballarat Library staff near the Super Sandpit daily for Storytime at 3pm.

Budding Gardeners Tent

Planting seeds and watching them come to life is a fantastic reward for any child, particularly when they grow into aromatic, edible plants.

This Ballarat Begonia Festival BotaniKIDS together with Bunnings Ballarat will help families create their very own herb pail, with a variety of different herbs to take home for planting in your garden and for use in the kitchen.

Make your own gnome hat

Children have the chance to create colourful designs for their gnome hat to explore the Gardens with this Ballarat Begonia Festival.

The Ballarat Society of Artists have donated their time to coordinate this painting activity. Stay and admire their works of art or purchase a piece to hang on your wall.

Garden Trail competition

Join Gneil the gnome tour guide in the ‘Be-Gnome-ia’ trail through the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, and help Gneil locate each of his friends. The team at Make Art School have created a garden adventure for the whole family to enjoy.

Obstacle Challenge

Older children will have a ball tackling the obstacle course as they weave in and out, over and through a range of challenges.

All children who participate will go in the draw to win a family pass to the Rumble Run event in Ballarat on 24 March (children must be over 10 years to enter). Three family passes are up for grabs.

Fish Hatchery Tours

See wild trout and learn more about the incredible efforts of volunteers over the past 146 years at the Ballarat Fish Hatchery.

Guided Tours at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm daily (Allow about 25mins)

Watch the masters at work in the Ballarat Woodworkers Guild marquee. Young visitors will receive a small wooden gift made on-the spot by these skills artisans.
