The Ballarat Begonia Festival is an innovative garden-based horticultural festival that show cases our cities natural assets including our unique and rare collection of Begonias.

Traditionally the festival has been held in the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, for 3-days over the March long weekend attracting 60,000+ patrons. Due to the impact of COVID-19, our festival has changed in format, duration and location in 2021. The festival will be celebrated for an extended period over 3 weeks, including 4 weekends from Saturday 6 March to Sunday 28 March. The Festival will occur throughout the CBD, in support of local business, and our premium parks and gardens precincts.

No. Tickets are not required for the Ballarat Begonia Festival. Partner offerings such as special hospitality events may however require you to book. Please check independently with the venue.

Yes. Begonias can be purchased from the Gardener’s Market on Saturday 6 March, directly from the grower. Also, Formosa Gardens will have Begonias for sale at their Nursery at 104 Leith Street, Redan.

This year’s extended festival has so much on offer. No! Take a FREE walk through the Robert Clark Conservatory to view the brilliance of the Begonia Display.

The Begonias will be on display from the first day of the Ballarat Begonia Festival, Saturday 6 March 2021. The Begonia Display will continue after the festival for as long as the begonias look their best, usually until mid-to-late April, weather dependant.
