Ballarat Fish Hatchery at the Ballarat Begonia Festival

Access info

The Ballarat Fish Acclimatisation Society was established in 1870 and has been operated by volunteers to the present day.

The Hatchery releases 6,000 Brown Trout Yearlings into Lake Wendouree each year as a donation to the Ballarat fishing community. They encourage volunteers to assist with the daily operation of the Hatchery.

Entry to the Hatchery will be via the North gate from the Botanical Gardens, and a gold coin donation would be greatly appreciated.
