Tramway Museum – Ballarat Begonia Festival

During the 2025 Ballarat Begonia Festival, the Tramway Museum and tram rides will be operating at the following times:

Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 March

• Museum open 10am to 5pm
• Tram rides from 12pm (or once the parade has concluded) to 5pm, every 15-30 minutes

Monday 10 March

• Museum open 10am to 5pm
• Tram rides from 10am to 5:30pm, every 15-30 minutes

All tram rides will start and end at the Tramway Museum in the South Gardens, and passengers can board or alight at nine other stops along the line, including one outside the main entrance to the Gardens. A full ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes.

We will be using our 60–110-year-old trams each day, most of which have a strong connection to Ballarat as part of the original fleet used in public service. One of the trams will be an ex-Melbourne W class tram, which has accessible space for passengers who use mobility aids (only available to board or alight from the Museum). 

The Tramway Museum features trams from Ballarat and around the country, including the 1885-built Horse Tram No. 1 (the oldest operational tram in Australia), as well as displays, interactive exhibits and a souvenir shop. 

During the Ballarat Begonia Festival, Tramway is offering visitors all-day tickets (unlimited tram rides and Museum admission) at $10 for adults and $5 for concession/children.
