The Ballarat Begonia Festival is set to bloom this weekend, bringing vibrant floral displays, lively entertainment and activities to enjoy! Mother nature has decided to turn up the heat and temperatures are expected to hit 33°C on Saturday and 30°C on Sunday – it’s shaping up to be a warm one.
If you’re heading to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens to soak in the festivities, be sure to take care in the heat. Here are some essential tips to stay cool and hydrated while enjoying the festival:
The festival is held in the beautiful Ballarat Botanical Gardens, so take advantage of the shaded areas under the trees.
With the heat in full force, staying hydrated is important than ever. Thankfully, hyrdation stations are scattered throughout the gardens, thanks to Central Highlands Water. Bring a refillable bottle or purchase one of the Begonia Festival bottles and top up regularly.
The festival runs across three days, so if you’re sensitive to heat, consider visiting earlier in the day or in the afternoon when the tempraters are slightly coolers. There’s plenty to see and do, from the stunning begonia display to market stalls and entertainment, so pace yourself and take breaks when needed.
Nothing beats the heat like an ice-cold drink or a refreshing snack. be sure to check out the food vendors for some delicious, cooling treats.
The Ballarat Begonia Festival is a highlight of the season, and a little bit of preparation will help ensure you have an amazing time despite the heat. So, grab a hat, fill up your water bottle and get ready to celebrate all things begonias!
